WHAT IS CUPPING THERAPY?

Cupping therapy is an ancient modality that involves either suction or fire cups applied to the skin for a few minutes. It is a modality used to release tensions or knots in the body that form as a result of stagnation or accumulation of blood, qi, or dampness.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CUPPING THERAPY?

Cupping is known to reduce stress and tension, decrease inflammation, promote skins blood flow, increase flow of the lymphatic system, stimulate immune response, and help remove toxins.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE WITH CUPPING THERAPY

I have been practicing suction cupping for over 8 years.

I learned suction cupping when I was working under a chiropractor then earned a specialization in fire cupping at Pacific College of Health and Science.

I only offer suction cupping at the moment.

I am certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). I am also a current member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

How much does cupping therapy cost?

Most massage businesses charge an additional fee for cupping therapy. Heal & flo does not charge extra for the use of any massage modality or tool.

We believe in a holistic approach to healing and develop unique treatment plans for every body according to their needs and preferences. 60-minute massages start at $120.

Please see our services page for full details. We have individual massage packages as well as massage memberships available.

Does cupping hurt?

Cupping treatment feels like a slight pull or tug on the skin. Some people feel discomfort and others may not feel much at all. All treatments are individualized to your level of comfort.

As the Harvard Health Publishing reports, "Most experts agree that cupping is safe. As long as those treated don’t mind the circular discolorations (which fade over a number of days or weeks), side effects tend to be limited to the pinch experienced during skin suction. It’s quite unusual that cupping causes any serious problems (though, rarely, skin infections have been reported)."

Does cupping therapy help with back pain?

Cupping therapy has been shown to alleviate back pain when done in conjunction with a massage.

Cups can be applied on the back as long as the area immediately near the spine is avoided. Our therapists have many years of experience and are experts in the proper application of suction cups.

Does cupping therapy work for sciatic pain?

There are different issues that can cause sciatic pain. During our consultation, we will discuss these to narrow down the specific cause.

For example, oftentimes our posture can lead to sciatic pain. Once the source is identified we can develop a targeted treatment plan to address the pain.

Cupping therapy can be safely used as part of a treatment plan for sciatic pain.
